Terminals are keyboard-and-screen tools — which shuts them out the moment your hands or eyes are busy, and leaves them hard to reach for developers who can't rely on a screen at all. ShellSpeak turns Claude Code into a conversation: speak a command, hear the response read back, answer by voice. The work still happens on your computer — ShellSpeak is the hands-free, eyes-free remote for it.

What you can do

Speak your command. Tap the big SPEAK button and talk. Your speech is transcribed on-device and sent to Claude Code running on your own machine.

Listen to the answer. The response is read back to you aloud, so you never need to look at the screen.

Answer by voice. Reply to follow-up questions by voice and keep the conversation going — a real back-and-forth with your terminal.

Connect in seconds. Run the free ShellSpeak gateway on your Mac or Linux computer and scan the QR code it prints. The app pairs over your local Wi-Fi and pins the gateway's certificate.

Try it with no setup. A built-in demo mode works with no computer, no network, and no account — so you can feel the flow before you connect anything.

Private by design

Speech is transcribed on your device using Apple's on-device recognition — your audio never leaves your phone. Commands travel only to the gateway on your own computer, over a certificate-pinned HTTPS connection protected by an API key. Nothing is sent to NYRAI or any third party. No account, no analytics, no tracking.
